Online registration will be closed once the workshop reaches capacity. Below is a list of the requirements that will be completed in the workshop as well as the research assignments the scouts must complete prior to the workshop and bring with them. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Walking tour of downtown architecture
Visit an architect’s office
Look at models and drawings
Learn about and discuss sustainable architecture, green buildings, materials, and preservation
Create a scale drawing of a room
Discuss career opportunities in architecture
An introduction to SketchUp (SketchUp is 3D modeling software that can be downloaded from the internet for free)

Required Research Assignments
Select an architectural achievement that has had a major impact on society and research how it has influenced the world today.
Scouts must turn in a one page written summary of this assignment at the workshop to receive a certificate of completion and have their blue card signed(boy scouts).

Recommended preparations for all scouts:
We recommend scouts research the following topics to help them better participate in workshop discussions:
What is sustainable architecture; Identify three features of green buildings; the difference between renewable building materials and recycled building materials; how architecture relates to its surrounding environment; and how buildings can be reused instead of torn down when they no longer serve their original purpose; what are some of the career opportunities for architects

Boy Scouts need to bring a blue card with them to the workshop for our facilitator to sign upon completion.

This workshop is organized and led by volunteer architects.
