2020 "Gingerbread at the ArCH"
Commemorating the completion of the new Architecture Center Houston
December 14, 2020
902 Commerce Street
Houston, TX 77002
Brought to you by the Gingerbread Build-Off
While we are unable to host an in-person competition this year, we've commissioned something special in honor of the brand new Architecture Center Houston. We think it will really TAKE THE CAKE!
Current and former members of our AIA Sandcastle Committee will come together to build a gingerbread structure commemorating the completion of the long-awaited Architecture Center Houston at 902 Commerce Street. The team, known as "Ginger & the Snaps", has competed in the Gingerbread Build-Off for many years, wowing spectators with entries like "Sandcastle in December", "Old MacGinger Had a Farm", "Gingerassic Park" and "Winnie the Pooh."
The completed sculpture will go on display at the Center beginning Monday, Dec. 14. While the ArCH is not yet open to the public, you'll be able to see and photograph the creation, which will be displayed in the front windows. They'll even be an Instagram station so you can share your photos on social media!
A huge THANK YOU goes out to our generous sponsors, Martinez Architects and Three Brothers Bakery!
