Building Envelope Flashing Systems

This presentation will discuss the materials utilized for flashing systems, the locations where flashings are expected, and stakeholders/decision makers who determine flashing designs. In addition, the speaker will discuss the limitations placed on each of the participant types based on their role in the construction process. The speaker will also discuss various examples regarding design and assessment of specific flashing profiles and conditions, including examples of failed conditions. Ample time will be left for questions.

Presenter information:  Russell Raymond has over twenty years of experience in the sheet metal contracting and building envelope consulting industries. He is currently a Senior Associate at Building Exterior Solutions, LLC in Houston, Texas. He has fabricated and installed sheet metal flashing of all types of metal, including copper and stainless steel, and extensive soldering experience. He has also designed, specified, assessed, and inspected installations by others on numerous projects along the Gulf Coast, throughout the United States, as well as several international projects. Mr. Raymond has also performed numerous investigations pertaining to sheet metal, roofing and cladding failures. He is a Registered Roof Consultant, Registered Exterior Wall Consultant, Registered Roof Observer, an Accredited Green Roof Professional, Certified EIFS Inspector, a Certified Tile Roofing Installer, and a Construction Documents Technologist.
