Pre-Applied / Blindside Waterproofing Best Practices - 1.0 AIA HSW (Course #AIA1023001)
Presenter: Mark Hronicek, Buiding Envelope Waterproofing Architectural Represenative, SOPREMA

This course discusses the unique considerations when installing pre-applied/blindside waterproofing for below grade waterproofing applications. It reviews the science behind any below grade waterproofing project but with a focus on pre-applied or “blindside” waterproofing best practices – including looking at the different product types and design considerations, as well as the pre-planning, decision making, and application techniques that these demanding waterproofing projects require.

Single-Ply Roof Systems: More than meets the eye
Presenter: Melody Jackson, GAF Building Science Manager for the Southwest U.S., GAF

Building loca!on, building use, budget, and more contribute to selec!on of components comprising the “best” roof system for your building. Designers will leave this presenta!on with the skills needed to select the correct single-ply membrane, understand the merits of a coverboard, implement code requirements and understand best installa!on prac!ces for insula!on, determine whether a vapor barrier is required, and have the knowledge to select the best installa!on method for each component of the roof system. This presenta!on will be forma)ed in a conversa!onal interac!ve style versus a tradi!onal PowerPoint lecture. A4er reviewing founda!onal knowledge, a)endees will have the chance to walk through a case study. To wrap up the session, a)endees will par!cipate in a group ac!vity to solidify what they have learned.

Electronic Leak Detection for Roofing, Waterproofing and the Building Envelope - 1.0 AIA HSW (Course #AIACESD823123)
Presenter: Shaun Katz, Product Line Manager

This one-hour course will cover Electronic Leak Detec!on (ELD) tes!ng methods used for quality assurance of roofing and waterproofing membranes. Par!cipants will learn about the principles outlined in the ASTM Standard Guide D7877 and ASTM Standard Prac!ce D8231 and will be able to iden!fy which assemblies are compa!ble with electronic tes!ng and ac!ve monitoring.
