BEC Houston Presents - “Construction Litigation”

Learning Objectives:  

Learn about the different parties that are exposed to construction litigation claims, the typeof deficiencies that are exposed and how these types of claims can be avoided. Mr. Basham will cover a brief summary of a litigation on Government, Residential, Hotel and Medical Facility projects where multiple partie were involved. Lesson learned in these projects will be covered along with questions or general discussion at the end of the presentation. It will be tax day the 18th so bring your taxes downtown drop them off, come by for some networking and education about the risks involved with the Building Envelope.

Biography:

Joe Basham specializes in construction law and construction litigation and is Board Certified® inConstruction Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He represents owners, developers, developers, general contractors, EPC contractors, subcontractors, architects, and engineers, focusing on contract drafting and negotiation, dispute management and avoidance, and dispute resolution, including mediation, litigation, and arbitration. Mr. Basham graduated from Texas A&M University, cum laude, in 1998, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Science. He earned his J.D. from Texas Tech School of Law Order of the Coif, magna cum laude, in 2002. Prior to joining Allensworth & Porter, L.L.P. in 2002, Mr. Basham was a member of the Texas Tech Law Review and the Technology Editor from 2001-2002. While at Texas A&M, he was a charter member of Tau Sigma Delta, the international honor society for Architecture and the Allied Arts, and a member of Sigma Lambda Chi, the international honor society for Construction. Mr. Basham has served the City of Rollingwood both as an Alderman since 2012, and is the President of the Rollingwood Community Economic Development Corporation. He is on the board of the Building Enclosure Council of Austin
