Please join AIA Houston at Lucky Strike on Tuesday June 30th from 5:00 – 8:00 pm for our annual Ben Brewer Award Mixer in honor of this year’s recipient, Christian Sheridan.

We will have 4  bowling lanes reserved along with food and drink tickets available. This mixer is hosted by the Young Architects Forum and is open to all young architects and interns. Don’t miss this opportunity to have some fun and make new acquaintances.

Every year our chapter recognizes a local young architect for significant contribution to the profession in honor of Ben Brewer.

 

 

2015 Award Recipient

Christian Sheridan

 

Christian Sheridan was born in Muncie, Indiana; where he would proceed to grow up the average, middle-class life in a biracial family with one biological and two adopted siblings in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He left aforementioned Indiana to attend Texas A & M University’s Environmental Design Program. After he graduated, he moved to Dallas, did stuff, quit a job, moved to Italy, came back to Dallas, got a new job, did stuff, then left aforementioned second job to attend the Rice University School of Architecture’s graduate program. Four days after presenting his thesis he started working for BRAVE / Architecture and is still there. This paragraph took 40 years to complete.

Christian has been project manager and designer of various project types. Throughout his career he has further committed himself to architecture by mentoring interns, lecturing to students of all ages, teaching at the university level, providing pro bono services, and volunteering for professional and community organizations. He was a member of design teams that earned an AIA Houston Design Award for the New Horizon Family Center, an AIA Houston “On the Boards” Award for RBW’s XS House and a Texas Society of Architects Studio Award for the Sorensen Bridge.

Christian represents Texas through his list of publications and photographs. His photographic themes range from Texas’ rural firework stands to its suburban neighborhoods and has had four photographs recognized by AIA National’s photography competition including his 2008 submission Shotgun that was awarded the Fuller Award. Outside of the office, he has challenged himself by completing multiple Houston and San Antonio Half-Marathons and three Chicago Marathons.
