Brought to you by the ArCH Walking/Bicycle Tours

Explore the city from a vantage point most people don't see: the waterway that gave Houston life and has been its backbone for 182 years. Architecture Center Houston (ArCH), with the cooperation of Buffalo Bayou Partnership, invite you to a stroll along Buffalo Bayou Parkway for an overview of downtown Houston's history and architecture from its beginnings in 1836 to the efforts to revitalize the central city today. The tour showcases the innovative bayou reclamation efforts of the City of Houston, Harris County, and Buffalo Bayou Partnership, while topically discussing history and preservation, contemporary architecture, the bayou, and adjacent parkland.

Meets outside the future home of the Architecture Center Houston at 902 Commerce Street.

Street, lot and garage parking is available in the area. Parking fees are not included in registration.

The safety of Architecture Center Houston’s visitors, volunteers and staff is our top priority. For the safety of our guests, ArCH docent-led walking tours are limited to a maximum of six attendees to allow for appropriate social distancing. All tour attendees are required to wear face coverings over both their mouth and nose at all times. BE ADVISED: Docents may choose not to wear a mask while speaking.

To ensure a touchless experience, tours tickets must be purchased in advance through the ArCH website. Unfortunately, walk-up attendees without reservations cannot be accommodated at this time.

Tour attendees may carry their own hand sanitizer to further adhere to the guidelines of public health officials regarding frequent hand sanitizing and thorough hand washing.

If you suspect that you may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or may be experiencing symptoms of an infection, please err on the side of caution and DO NOT attend the tour. We will happily offer you a raincheck for a future tour.

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is extremely contagious that can lead to severe illness or death. Tour attendees personally and voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. By confirming your reservation for any ArCH walking tour you acknowledge and accept that risk and agree to the following Safety Protocols:

  • Tickets must be purchased online in advance of the tour.
  • Face masks must be worn by all visitors above the age of two.
  • Social distancing must be respected at all times.
  • Visitors are encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer.

Attendees may be asked to leave the tour at any time if staff or docents suspect that they are ill or have been exposed to the virus. Rainchecks will be offered for a future tour.

By purchasing a ticket, you agree to all of the precautions listed above.
