ABOUT PRESENTERS

Joan Albert 

Joan Albert is a principal at the Houston office of Page. She has led the planning and design of many complex projects, including academic, corporate, healthcare, multi-family and government facilities.  She is highly skilled in developing innovative and thoughtful design solutions while understanding of the client’s goals and objectives.  Joan believes in a holistic approach to building design, paying close attention to the interior building program components while balancing the regional and contextual issues of the building architecture.

Joan earned her Masters of Architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture and her Bachelor of Arts, Anthropology from Haverford College in Pennsylvania. She also completed summer courses in architecture at Harvard University.

Elaine Lee

As Senior Associate at Page, Elaine specializes in large-scale, highly complex academic, commercial and healthcare projects. She has been a lead designer on projects throughout the United States, the Far East and the Middle East. Highly accomplished in all aspects of design, including master planning, visualization and simulation techniques, she is able to effectively communicate full understanding of the project to her clients.

Elaine received her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Houston and has been in the industry for 17 years.

Nicola Springer AIA

Nicola Springer is a Vice President and the PK-12 Education Team Leader at Kirksey Architecture in Houston, Texas. Specializing in educational design — from pre-k to collegiate — Nicola believes that architecture should be a learning tool that inspires creativity, engages users, and promotes a healthy and happy life. She oversees the team's projects, manages staff, and maintains client relationships. She is heavily involved in project design, coordination, and execution of construction documents. Nicola has spoken professionally on the influences and advances of 21st century education in design. She joined the firm in 1998 and has over 15 years of architectural experience. Nicola received her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Princeton University and her Master of Architecture from Rice University. In addition to her Vice Presidency, she is also a recipient of the Houston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 and the annual Young Architect award by the American Institute of Architects Houston Chapter.
