Become a part of the Michael G. Meyers Design & Scholarship Competition Committee and join us for a happy hour to celebrate the work of last year’s committee and to kick off the 2022 competition. We will kick off the season on Thursday, August 4 at 6pm at Julep.
The annual scholarship competition, sponsored by Architecture Center Houston Foundation and AIA Houston, is an ideas competition with an emphasis on creative problem solving and graphic presentation. In previous years students have been asked to design an education center with a focus on sustainability, mixed-use building in the Third Ward, an animal shelter and many other challenging projects. The committee chooses the project, writes the program, raises the funds for the scholarships, and hosts a series of events to help the students learn basic architectural design skills and understand the competition requirements.

Planning begins in the Fall, the program kicks off in January with student events and fundraising, and wraps up with an awards ceremony in May 2023.
