Join Visual Arts Alliance Saturday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m. for an in-person panel discussion “Outside the Lines – Artists & Architecture” at the AIA Building, 902 Commerce Street in downtown Houston. Four artists will discuss the reasons they changed their career paths from architectural design to the visual arts and how their backgrounds have influenced their work.
Tiffany Heng-Hui Lee is a Taiwanese-American visual artist specializing in abstract, mixed-media objects, paper-based collages, sculpture, jewelry, and paintings, influenced by her experience as a corporate interior designer. Luisa Duarte is a Venezualan-American visual artist with degree in Architecture. Carlos Pozo was born in Chile and has lived in the Middle East, Europe, and now Texas. He studied architecture and works in digital art, printmaking, video animation. Daniel Brents lived and worked as an architect overseas and throughout the United States, and now paints to record the visual character of places.
Visual Arts Alliance (VAA) is an educational organization for practitioners of the visual arts and interested members of the general public. Founded in Houston, TX in 1981, VAA is an all-volunteer run, 501(c)3, nonprofit organization. In addition to educational and recreational programs, VAA produces professionally juried art exhibitions providing opportunities for members and non-members to have their work professionally judged and viewed by the public.
