Preservation On-Site with the HRC, Knapp Historic Building Tour

Join Urbano Architects for an exciting walking tour and presentation of 1230 Houston Avenue, one of Houston’s few remaining Moderne-style buildings. The building was constructed in 1940 and served as the first home of Knapp Chevrolet in Houston, one of the oldest family-operated car dealership businesses still present today. The property fell into disrepair until 2022, when Urbano Architects was brought on board to design the renovation into an Art Gallery. Their team successfully pursued state and federal landmark recognition, as well as historic tax credits.
