Rice Design Alliance's Civic Forum 2020 will take place this fall through an online roundtable discussion format and will address the urgent need for quality affordable housing in our city. The forum’s speakers will encourage an active conversation amongst practitioners, city officials, researchers and housing activists about the value and need for skilled architectural design in the development of housing models in an environment otherwise largely dominated by real estate development schemes.

With our current state of domestic confinement laying bare the glaring inequalities in the ways Houstonians live, an open community discussion around the design aspects of affordable housing is more urgent than ever.

The Civic Forum 2020 is hosted in collaboration with Jesús Vassallo, associate professor, Rice Architecture, whose work and practice centers on housing research in Houston and beyond.
