Understanding the General Conditions of a Construction Contract

This presentation will review and explain the A201 AIA General Conditions, including: i) the relationship of the project participants, ii) the key items in the General Conditions that minimize misunderstandings and prevent project delays, iii) project management, and iv) critical timing issues and how to assure and monitor compliance.

About the Presenter
Grant joined Mills Shirley LLP in 1981 and became a partner in 1985. Over the past 30 years he has been lead counsel on over one thousand cases and lead counsel in approximately 80 jury trials taken to verdict, including cases involving construction and design defects, commercial disputes, breach of contract and premises liability.

10 Rules for Managing Your Professional Liability Risk

In this workshop, participants will learn the nature of professional liability risk, including its hidden costs. We will identify important rules of risk management, and discuss example of what happens when the rules aren’t followed.  Finally, we will acquire strategies to manage those risks.

About the Presenter
Kevin is a licensed Property & Casualty agent, specializing in professional liability and risk management services to architects and engineers, in a variety of disciplines.  He is USI’s current Architects & Engineers Division Leader in Houston, TX. In Texas alone, USI currently represents more than 700 design firms.

Kevin holds a degree in Business/Information Systems and has over 18 years of project management and sales experience. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys spending time with his wife, Chelsea, and their four children, playing the guitar and watching or attending sporting events.
