A city’s towers can define its place in the world, producing a skyline that reveals a city’s identity almost instantly. But today the community rarely has to access those towers and the bird’s eye views they provide. Observation decks have closed or limited access to tenants only due to increasing security concerns.

ArCH’s Soar to High Heights tour series invites the community to explore the history of our local skyscrapers, their architecture and of course access to the top. We will explore iconic and recently completed skyscrapers in Houston’s skyline.

“1550 on the Green has been designed and built with sustainability at its core, and there’s no better place for the greenest office building in Houston than in Discovery Green,” Matt Damborsky, executive vice president for Skanska USA Commercial Development’s Houston market.

Join us for a tour of 1550 on the Green, part of a three-block master plan by Skanska, designed by world-renowned architect Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). The 28-story, 375,00-sf tower is BIG’s first office project in Texas and is expected to achieve LEED Platinum certification.

The new mixed-use tower will feature extra-wide pedestrian walkways with a canopy of trees, two tenant outdoor roof terraces, a side-core design which allows for panoramic views of Discovery Green and unobstructed daylight to enter through oversized windows. The building is part of a new envisioned district that will be branded as Discovery West. The district will consist of 3.5 acres of mixed-use development boasting restaurants, retail and green space.
