State Hospital Licensing Regulations - An Update from the TDSHS

Program Description:

Mr. Van de Werken will provide an overview of State Hospital licensing Regulations in relationship to the purposed CMS adoption of NFPA 101, 2012 edition that may come from next year's 85th Texas Legistaltive Session.  Additionally, he will provide a brief overview of lessons learned and generally what's been going on in healthcare development in Texas from the eyes of the state review organization.

A graduate of University of Arizona in Tucson with a Bachelor of Architecture, Mr. Van de Werken has 24 years with the State of Texas and 23 years in the Texas Department of State Health Services  - Architecture Review Group and currently the Chief Architect and Manager.  A licensed architect in the State of Texas with practice in both Arizona and Texas, his previous experience includes Partner at Peters and Fields Architects in Midland/Odessa and Austin, and owner and president of VdW & Associates.

Born in Djakarta, Indonesia, he lived both in Indonesia and the Netherlands before immigrating to the United States of America in 1959.  For the past 15 years Mr. Van de Werken has also been heavily involved with Austin Habitat for Humanity serving as the site leader in building 30 homes.Learning Objectives:
