The Texas Medical Center is the largest medical center in the world. Equivalent to the 8th largest business district in the United States, TMC has over 50 million square feet of patient care, education, and research space. 160,000+ individuals visit the Texas Medical Center each day with more than 6 million patients treated annually. The 1000+ acres is approximately the size of Chicago inside the "Loop" with over 160 buildings on the main campus alone. Join our ArCH docents on this introductory architectural tour of Houston's own modern marvel of medicine. Sites on our tour will include Baylor College of Medicine, the new Texas Children's Hospital Maternity Center, MD Anderson Cancer Center and Methodist Research Center.

Meet in the ground floor lobby of the John P McGovern Commons Building, 6550 Bertner Ave, 77030. Texas Medical Center Entrance 4 and $10 parking available in the TMC Commons parking garage.

The safety of Architecture Center Houston’s visitors, volunteers and staff is our top priority. For the safety of our guests, ArCH docent-led walking tours are limited to a maximum of six attendees to allow for appropriate social distancing. All tour attendees are required to wear face coverings over both their mouth and nose at all times. BE ADVISED: Docents may choose not to wear a mask while speaking.

To ensure a touchless experience, tours tickets must be purchased in advance through the ArCH website. Unfortunately, walk-up attendees without reservations cannot be accommodated at this time.

Tour attendees may carry their own hand sanitizer to further adhere to the guidelines of public health officials regarding frequent hand sanitizing and thorough hand washing.

If you suspect that you may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or may be experiencing symptoms of an infection, please err on the side of caution and DO NOT attend the tour. We will happily offer you a raincheck for a future tour.

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is extremely contagious that can lead to severe illness or death. Tour attendees personally and voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. By confirming your reservation for any ArCH walking tour you acknowledge and accept that risk and agree to the following Safety Protocols:

  • Tickets must be purchased online in advance of the tour.
  • Face masks must be worn by all visitors above the age of two.
  • Social distancing must be respected at all times.
  • Visitors are encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer.

Attendees may be asked to leave the tour at any time if staff or docents suspect that they are ill or have been exposed to the virus. Rainchecks will be offered for a future tour.

By purchasing a ticket, you agree to all of the precautions listed above.
