The Center for Children and Women Tour:

Texas Children’s Health Plan’s The Center for Children and Women located in the Greenspoint area is designed to improve access to health care and quality of care for the Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) populations.

The delivery concept is centered on principles that promote a personal physician, a physician directed medical practice, whole person orientation, care coordination across multiple systems, quality and safety, enhanced access, and appropriate payment for services. The Center’s model will transcend that definition of how to service the Medicaid and CHIP populations by not focusing on quantity but rather quality. The philosophy of The Center is that we can service these populations with the same level of respect and quality that a commercial population receives.

The Center offers the following features:

  • Concierge level service unheard of in serving low income patients
  • Comprehensive coordinated care with full support services enveloping the care team (social workers, behavioral health, care coordinators, patient navigators, nutritionists, case managers, nurse triage, and intense appointment services)
  • Re-certification, renewal assistance
  • Access 7 days a week 16 hours per day Monday thru Friday and 10 hours per day on weekends for pediatrics and 5 days a week for 12 hours per day Monday thru Friday and an additional 6 hours per day on Saturdays for OB.

This tour is unique in that it is a prelude to the 2014 Seminar, Exhibit and Social (SES) held in mid-February 2014.  The theme planned for discussion at the SES will be centered around the changing landscape of the healthcare environment; the shift from centralized care facilities to decentralized local care.  We will look at the topic both from a urban design perspective and from the owner’s point of view.
