Understanding Moisture Performance of Wood: Introduction to Durable Design and Construction
Speaker: Ron Anthony, Wood Scientist, Anthony and Associates
Wood buildings that offer decades or more of service life are common in many parts of the country that face challenges of high humidity, termites, and decay conditions similar to those in Texas. Expand your design options by improving your understanding of wood’s relationship to moisture. Led by a wood expert, this seminar discusses wood’s response to relative humidity and liquid water, providing means to address decay and insect concerns, and reduce the potential for in-service shrinkage and swelling. Learn how to apply appropriate design considerations and develop your specifications to achieve high-performing, long-lasting wood buildings.
Ron Anthony received an MS in Wood Science and Technology and a BS in Forest Management and Wood Science and Technology from Colorado State University. Prior to forming Anthony & Associates in 1999, he conducted research and consulted on wood properties and the use of wood in construction applications. Author of over 100 publications, he has consulted throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and the South Pacific.
