This November, an election will be held for the position of the Mayor of Houston. What changes do you want to see made by 2022?

‘What Can We Do By 2022?’ is a series of three luncheons hosted by Houston Tomorrow, each with a panel of keynote speakers who will present on topics that will address issues such as our transportation crisis, our tax base, and more, as well as potential solutions to these issues. Importantly, bringing these topics to the table will foster a conversation about where the City of Houston is heading, what needs to be changed, and how we can make those changes, which will color whose name you check on the ballot this fall.

On Wednesday, August 5th from 11AM - 1:30PM Houston Tomorrow will host its second luncheon at United Way Community Resource Center. The topic is Access Mobility. Sam Lott, Senior Vice President at Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., and Christof Spieler, a structural engineer and urban planner, will be the key speakers for this exciting event. Following their presentations, Geoff Carleton, Dr. Carol Lewis, and Kyle Shelton will take part in a panel discussion.

Can the next Mayor of Houston leave office in 2022 with a majority of the residents of Houston having meaningful access to transit and safe streets? How can we build upon the success of Houston’s light rail system and Metro System Reimagining to provide high quality transit across the service area connecting Houston’s polycentric job centers? What can the next Mayor of Houston do to avoid increasing vehicle miles traveled and the ever growing costs of excessive roads? Can the next Mayor of Houston collaborate across the region to improve access for the 6 million Houstonians?

Tickets are $100 each or $1,000 for a table of 8. These can be purchased at online by folowing the registration link to your left. Lunch - provided by Last Concert Cafe - will be predominantly locally sourced, although Houston Tomorrow has not developed the menu for this second lunch yet.

On Thursday, July 30th from 6PM - 8PM, Christof Spieler will deliver his full talk: ‘Human centric transportation planning.’ The evening before the luncheon, on August 4th from 6PM - 8PM, Sam Lott will present his extended talk entitled ‘Houston’s Impending Transportation Crisis.’
