Architect – Planner – Facilities Portfolio Maganement

Supports the Portfolio Management planning team through programming, space planning, data analysis according to the campus master plan and institutional development goals. (Job ID: 57483


Develops space plans and space programs taking into consideration space management policy, campus master plan, space standards, architectural guidelines, life safety code, building code, space adjacencies, accessibility, equipment needs and IT needs.
Conducts space surveys in accordance with required standards and procedures, working with the appropriate faculty and staff to understand and document current utilization of space assigned to their department.
Provides critical analysis on space utilization for existing departments.
Prepares clear and concise presentations for departmental space plans using drawings, data from existing or future facilities, space programs, projects or other related information as required.
Manages, tracks and provides solutions for space requests and real estate requests from UTMB departments.
Coordinates work with design and construction project managers for execution of project plans.
Assists in the preparation special studies, reports, proposals or specialized data analysis regarding UTMB facilities.
Communicates with and presents information accurately and timely to departmental and executive level leadership
Interacts with project teams, outside consultants and customers.
Engages in continuous professional development and related activities toward maintaining a current facility knowledge base in the Academic, Research and Medical areas of expertise.
Stays abreast of current facility products and services and industry benchmarks.
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
Performs related duties and special projects as required.
Mentors other junior staff.


Preferred License/Certificate: Licensure to practice architecture in the state of Texas preferred.
Skill/Competency: Excellent written, verbal, graphic and presentation skills required. Excellent Analytical skills. AutoCAD, Intermediate MS Excel Skills, MS Power point and MS Word. Knowledge of Adobe InDesign preferred.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent and 2 years’ experience.
