Construction Administrator-Mid-rise / High-rise (Dallas)

Job Description:

We currently are seeking an experienced Construction Administrator to join our CA Department and/or Production Team who will work as an integral part of our architecture firm. This professional will be performing construction administration services for residential, multi-family, mid-rise, high-rise, mixed-use, luxury, senior, affordable and student housing projects in markets across the country and possibly internationally.


Job Responsibilities:

• Develop strong relationships with the project owner, construction project manager and superintendent
• Reinforce the integrity of the architectural design intent and HPA’s standards constantly through construction
• Communicate clearly and often with construction liaisons, architectural project managers, architectural project leads and project owners to ensure construction is a fully engaged process
• Understand construction documents and become intimately familiar with a construction set prior to engaging an owner or general contractor
• Redline construction documents at the earliest stage of construction in order to prevent potential problems
• Represent HPA on OAC calls both in-person and on-site as necessary
• Review and answer RFIs in a timely manner with the coordinated effort of the architectural production team and design consultants
• Review project submittals in a timely manner and ensure that contractors adhere to HPA standards outlined in both the specifications and the contract.
• Observe construction sites through all phases of the construction process
• Produce field reports in a timely manner that document all observations
• Report and coordinate solutions on construction related issues immediately with the architectural project team and consultants
• Develop and maintain knowledge of current building codes and multi-family construction practices
• Use experience and knowledge base to solve construction issues in the field with the general contractor
• Become a trusted source for the owner as HPA’s representative in the field
• Travel to construction sites across the U.S. as required per project


Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in architecture, architectural engineering, construction science, or a related field within the construction and building science industry
• Experience with multi-family and mixed-use projects is a must
• Experience in wood framed construction is a must
• Experience creating, answering or reviewing Submittals and/or RFIs
• Experience reading, understanding and redlining construction documents
• Experience interacting with owners, architects, engineers, designers, contractors and sub-contractors
• Minimum of 8 years of construction administration, construction management or architectural production experience
• Experience in both support and leadership roles
• Excellent communication and time management skills with a positive attitude
• Ability to work both independently and work collaboratively when required to do so
• Software experience using MS Excel, MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, MS Outlook and any construction related project management software

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience and understanding of Type V-A, V-B, III-A and I-A specific construction detailing and building codes
• Experience and understanding of Podium and Wrap style multi-family projects
• Experience and understanding of high-rise and metal framed projects
• Experience and understanding of hospitality and large scale mixed-use projects
• Experience and understanding of student housing specific projects, clients and contractors
• Experience and understanding of high-density projects and sites
• Experience using Newforma or equivalent project management software
• Experience using Bluebeam Revu or equivalent document review software
• Experience using or interacting with AutoCAD, Revit or other architectural software
• Prior job experience requiring 25% to 50% travel time.
• Experience answering complex Submittals and RFIs
• Experience dealing with expedited schedules and complex project parameters
