Last week, Charles Johnson, AIA, Ross Rivers, AIA and Tim Kunz, AIA, NCARB, were named Senior Associates. These individuals have shown a high level of dedication not only in their roles as talented architects, but also in their desire to enhance the culture of VLK, and provide innovative solutions for our clients.

Charles Johnson, AIA, joined VLK in 2005 and quickly became a valuable member of the VLK team taking on many responsibilities in the Houston office. He has worn many hats at VLK: Intern/Project Architect/Project Manager/Director of Operations/Code Specialist/CA/IT specialist/CAD specialist. His enormous talent, distinctive skillsets, and willingness to take on new challenges has provided VLK with the ability to continue to grow the firm. Johnson has proven his leadership capabilities through the mentoring of interns and project architects, management of the Houston Office, and continued efforts to improve communications and procedures.

Ross Rivers, AIA, joined VLK in 1998 as an entry level architectural intern and rapidly became accomplished in all aspects of our practice. In 2007, Rivers relocated to Houston where he applied his broad-based understanding of design, construction documents, and construction administration to the management of all personnel and the Houston office. In 2013, Rivers returned to the Fort Worth office where he has distinguished himself as a Project Manager and Project Director, gaining the trust and confidence of a wide range of clients and the entire VLK team. Ross is a thought leader who never rests with the status quo.

Tim Kunz, AIA, NCARB, joined VLK in 2006 and applied his passion for architecture by leading teams in the production of construction documents and by building solid client relationships. Kunz’s thoughtful character and exceptional organizational skills distinguished him as a reliable leader on many of VLK Houston’s most challenging projects. Kunz’s overriding concern for the development of excellence for all things VLK has vaulted him to his current position as Project Director. He is an ambassador for our employees and a cherished advisor to VLK leadership.

VLK Principal Leesa Vardeman, AIA, said, “We are so excited to recognize these individuals as Senior Associates based upon their extraordinary leadership. Their commitment to innovation, exceptional client service, and advancing the mission of VLK has commanded the respect and admiration of our staff, business associates, and clients. They truly represent the type of uncompromising excellence we value.”
