The new DLR Group Houston office is adding project staff. Jason Drews, AIA, LEED AP BD+C joins the firm as Project Architect. He will be working on a confidential urban masterplan with a mixed-use development, a net-zero university building, a technology company interiors renovation, and the second Rossini Café, located in the new Hines San Felipe Place office tower.

Over his career, Drews has cultivated a specialization in project design and documentation. He works jointly with the client and full design team to define clear expectations for return on investment and performance metrics within the project budget. Drews effectively translates this information into the design and construction details, work he has done for exacting clients such as NASA and American Express. He has completed documentation for over three million square feet of buildings to date.

Drews is active in the local development and design scene; he’s a member of the American Institute of Architects Houston Chapter, Rice Design Alliance, Greater Houston Partnership, and Central Houston. At the Clemson University School of Architecture he won the Harlan McClure Award for outstanding design in a master’s thesis. He received honorable mention in the Dow Design to Zero Design Competition in the integrated photovoltaics category.

“I’ve worked with Jason for several years and know he has the skill set, critical design eye, and passion we need to help get the office off to a strong start,” according to DLR Group Principal Filo Castore, AIA, who leads the Houston studio. “Since we are in growth mode, we wanted someone who would do great work on projects, plus bring ideas to the table for new prospects and ways to engage with the market and greater Houston community. Jason is going to be a great asset to fulfill our vision to be Houston’s design hub.”
