HOUSTON, TX July 5, 2017 – Texas-IBI Group is saddened to share the news that colleague and friend, Patrick Zadow, passed away on Sunday morning. He had chest pains after his morning run and passed away suddenly as he was being transported to the hospital.

Practicing with IBI Group (previously Bay Architects) for over 25 years, Pat was a career K-12 architect who led hundreds of projects over the years. His work included a number of award-winning projects such as Channelview High School and Athletic Complex (Channelview Independent School District), Housman Elementary and Stratford Senior High School (Spring Branch Independent School District). Other districts where Pat worked for a number of years include Houston Independent School District, and Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. Well known for his commitment to his clients, Pat led the office’s Project Management Committee, an Initiative focused on improving quality and value to our clients.

“Pat loved architecture and this firm, to which he dedicated his entire career and worked tirelessly to shape and grow, earning the deep respect and admiration of his industry colleagues and peers,” said Mark French, Senior Principal and Houston Office lead. “Pat’s creativity and vision have had a profound and positive impact on the firm and staff of IBI Group, as well as the numerous people and lives he touched over the years. He was a unique character and one who always paused to enjoy a laugh. We are deeply saddened by this loss.”

“Pat had an outstanding career and his mark on the world of educational architecture can be found in many school districts throughout southeast Texas. As a one of the leaders in our firm, Pat maintained a level of excellence that was greatly appreciated by our owners. His dedication to the design of quality learning spaces – from early childhood facilities to high schools and stadiums - has benefited countless young learners,” said Daniel Brewster, Principal in the Houston office. “As a mentor to dozens of young architects throughout his career, his influence in the local design community was significant and is another step in the legacy he leaves behind.”

Brewster concluded, “Pat was an inspirational father and husband. He understood the importance of family, he set a standard of how to balance professional and personal time, and he nurtured a culture of family within our office.”

His dedication and enthusiasm for this firm and the people who work here were boundless. He will be sorely missed by the Houston office and everyone who worked with him. His family is in the process of making arrangements and we respectfully ask that you keep his wife Tina and their children in your thoughts at this difficult time.
