Post Hurricane Harvey updates

09/05/2017 | AIA Houston

Dear AIA Houston Members,

Given the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey over the last few days we are concerned about you and how you weathered the storm. We’ve heard from a few offices that were effected and we’ve received a number of emails from local members and others asking how they can help. We need you to let us know what you need.  We are hoping that the staff of AIA Houston can facilitate matching those needs to offers of help that we are getting. If you need help with temporary office space, office equipment or office furniture, please email your specific request to harvey@aiahouston.org. If you can offer temporary office space, office equipment or office furniture, please email us at harvey@aiahouston.org. We know there are members and others who are looking for ways to help and we’d like to facilitate those efforts.

The leadership of AIA Houston is currently working with AIA National, The Texas Society of Architects, FEMA and appropriate local and state officials to implement relief efforts. If you are interested in making yourself available for such efforts, please help by answering these questions (email responses to: harvey@texasarchitects.org).

  • If you are a registered architect in Texas,
  • Have you had building assessment training such as AIA or CAL-OES Safety Assessment Program? If so, how recently?
  • If the answer is yes to the questions above, are you available to deploy to the impacted areas when needed? If so, do you have housing contacts of your own?
