Thiel assumes 100% ownership of CH&P Architects
Courtney Harper to pursue other artistic endeavors

Effective January 1, 2021, Kyle Thiel, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, will assume 100 percent ownership of Courtney Harper & Partners Architects. A member of the firm for the past nine years, Thiel says he is ready for the opportunities and growth that lie ahead.

“I am honored and excited to be leading the company into the next phase of its life,” Thiel said. “With the rest of the CH+P team, we look to continue and build upon the reputation that Courtney has cultivated over these past 26 years.”

Thiel has a Bachelor of Architecture from Kansas State University and a Master of Architecture from Washington University. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and Texas Society of Architects. Thiel has been practicing architecture for 20 years, focusing on renovation, adaptive reuse, and interior build-outs.

With a strong background in healthcare and laboratory facilities, Thiel’s responsibilities at CH+P include design, documentation, management, and construction administration.

His work focuses on working closely with his clients to listen, understand, and to provide comprehensive and well-crafted design solutions. Thiel says that he believes great projects begin with a dialog between owner and designer – manifesting in a project that exceeds initial expectations.

Courtney Harper met Thiel when he joined CH+P as a Project Manager/Project Architect.

“Kyle is a tireless learner, a talented architect and an effective communicator,” Harper said. “He shot through the ranks of our company in a short period of time.”

Harper said that Thiel’s extensive range of architectural and management skills will sustain and grow the company’s reputation for providing outstanding architectural services to the firm’s healthcare, science and technology, and higher education clients.

“I am very confident in Kyle’s abilities to lead this company and celebrate his transition to ownership,” she said.

One of Thiel’s major recent projects at CH+P was a renovation at UT M.D. Anderson Cancer Center – School of  Health Professionals, where the floor of the research building was split into hybrid teaching and research labs as well as a student commons for the undergraduate and graduate student populations. As a new “front door” for the school within MD Anderson, the entrance to the student commons became a visual and architectural threshold.

Harper will be retiring to focus on other interests.

“We are excited to watch Courtney dive into her other passion with the same tenacious drive that has sustained and grown this office,” Thiel said. “The entire team is committed to model that drive for our clients and partners into the future.”
