Three Square Design Group has a strong close to 2013, completing a year that was full of firsts for the firm, from revenue to awards.

For the first time in its five years of business, 2013 firm revenue exceeded $2 million, up from $284,000 in 2008. This revenue reflects more than 300 tenant finish projects and 30 ground-up buildings. Three Square’s 2013 building projects totaled more than 1.25 million square feet. Such growth requires a high-performing team to keep pace, which has grown over the last five years from a staff of one to 15. Principal Jake Donaldson is now licensed to practice architecture in nine states, which the firm’s projects span.

This year, Three Square placed #33 on the Houston Business Journal’s (HBJ) Fast 100, awarded to privately owned area businesses based on growth. Similarly, Three Square earned the #24 spot on the Aggie 100, ranking Aggie-owned or operated businesses for their growth. Three Square was proud to be named as a finalist among the HBJ’s Best Places to Work, which is a credit to the firm’s unique culture and positive work environment. And finally, Donaldson was named to the HBJ’s 40 Under 40, recognizing professionals who have excelled in their field under the age of 40.

Three Square Design Group appreciates the opportunities afforded it by Houston community, and the hard and excellent work of its staff. Out of a belief in helping one’s neighbors, in 2013 Three Square performed pro bono work for the Houston Food Bank, and made charitable a contribution to the non-profit of choice for each employee.
