Two FKP Architects interior designers earn NCIDQ certification

The National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certification is a recognized set of global standards to assess the competence of interior design professionals; the standards are based on health, safety and welfare principles specific to the industry. FKP interior designers Colette DeJean and Shannon Dupras recently passed all required exams and earned the NCIDQ certification. It is the highest in the industry and meets the legal and regulatory requirements established by most U.S. states and Canadian provinces.

DeJean works primarily in FKP’s pediatric healthcare sector. She works with clients during the planning and design phases, and is currently supporting interior design for the Texas Children’s Hospital Pediatric Tower E in the Houston Medical Center, and the new Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands campus. DeJean also has specific experience in healthcare art consulting, bringing an added dimension of interest to all her projects.

In addition to design experience, Dupras is a furniture specialist. She gets involved in projects as early as the programming and schematic design phases, to ensure functionality in each space and alignment with client needs. Dupras is familiar with many institutional and governmental agency interiors requirements through previous project experience. She is currently assisting with interior design for the new Texas Children’s Hospital Pediatric Tower E.

“Professional certification is a critical part of career development for all professionals at FKP, regardless of their role,” according to Kristin Ledet, FKP director of interiors. “The NCIDQ certification tells our clients that their project team will first and foremost produce a functional, safe interior environment. Professional certification combined with ongoing internal mentoring is what results in the kind of highly specialized environments clients expect from FKP.”
