cre8's Wolters Project wins TASA/TASB Outstanding Renovation Award
cre8’s Wolters High School Renovation project for Deer Park ISD was recognized by TASA/TASB as the Outstanding School Renovation project of 2013. The project involved the conversion of the District’s original 1930 school building into an Accelerated High School for Grades 9 thru 12. The historic 1930 building façade and envelope, wood storefront classrooms, and terrazzo corridors were kept intact. Interior areas that had been modified numerous times during the past 80 years were replaced with a learning hub model where the entire curriculum is electronic and available for students to work at their own pace and not organized by grade levels. The design concept is a semi-open instructional environment with subject areas connected for shared interaction under a combined learning model. Gathering spaces were created to allow students to work on their own in an informal setting, or to work together in small groups as a team.
