On Aug. 22, 2019, Bautex Systems’ Chris Leonard, Paul Brown and Gretchen Kliafas with Emily Ledbetter, project manager from Masa Studio Architects, were joined by more than 50 architects, engineers, general contractors and community leaders for a tour of Gracewood’s new community center. The new, 15,000 sq. ft. community center is one of the most flood and wind resistant buildings currently under construction in Harris County.

Kirksey Architecture is now carbon neutral and makes first-ever carbon storage transaction on Texas Gulf Coast

With the purchase of carbon storage from 386 acres of marshlands along the Texas coast, Kirksey Architecture has met its goal of becoming a carbon-neutral company. The purchase represents the first transaction of the Texas Coastal Exchange (TCX), a non-profit seeking to establish a marketplace to buy and sell ecological services and to allow firms to offset their carbon footprint by supporting the conservation of local ecosystems.

Kirksey Architecture is proud to announce that Catherine Callaway, AIA, LEED AP has been named the 2019 AIA Houston Ben Brewer Young Architect. This is the fifth time a Kirksey employee has been the recipient of such a recognition–-previous winners include Kirksey President Wes Good (2001), Executive Vice President and Interior Architecture Team Leader Brian Malarkey (2004), Vice President and PreK-12 Team Leader Nicola Springer (2009), and Vice President and Sustainability Director Julie Hendricks (2012).
