Civic Vision Award - Susan Rogers

The AIA Houston Civic Vision Award honors an individual who has significantly improved the quality of life in Houston through influence on the built environment. University of Houston College Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design professor Susan Rogers has had an enormous impact on our city.

Citation of Honor – Houston Zoo

The AIA Houston Citation of Honor is awarded to groups or organizations whose activities have made significant contributions to the improvement of the natural or built environment. In 2022 the Houston Zoo celebrates 100 years as a beloved public space, cultural icon, and model of conservation practices for the city.

Artisan Award – MAK Studio

The AIA Houston Artisan or Craftsman Award is given to artisans who have worked closely with architects for to significantly enhance the architect’s work. This year, the 2022 AIA Houston Artisan Award is presented to Liz Cordill and Jose Aguilar of MAK Studio.

Educator Award – Maha Basileh

The AIA Houston Educator Award is given to an individual teaching architecture at some level of academia. Until 2017, this award was reserved for faculty of one of the three accredited architecture programs in Houston.

Associate Member of the Year – Alex Morales

The AIA Houston Associate Member of the Year Award recognizes contributions to the chapter by a member working toward licensure. It is an honor to present this years Associate Award to Alex Morales.

RDLR Architects Celebrates 40-Years of Community Driven Design

Founded in 1982 by Rey de la Reza, FAIA, RDLR Architects (RDLR) followed Rey’s vision to create quality community driven design. On Monday, Oct. 18, VLK Architects, Joeris Construction, and Katy Independent School District community members celebrated the dedication of the Martha Lopez Aki Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) Project Teach Your Kids Early (TYKE) Facility. The facility is home to two functions, including the Project TYKE (Teach Your Kids Early) program to provide education for parents in the community that have children with special needs and a Professional Development Center for district faculty, staff, and administration training. ECI Project TYKE has been providing services to approximately 15,000 children and their families since 1998.
