The Architecture Center Houston Foundation is a catalyst for public understanding and interest in architecture and urban design.


The Architecture Center Houston Foundation is a non-profit education organization designated by the IRS as a 501 (c)3 corporation that promotes awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the ways in which architecture and urban design influence the built environment and enhance the quality of life in the community.

2011 Grant Recipients

Mod Houston

Big Beard Films and Sam Wainwright Douglas for production expenses related to Mod Houston, a documentary about Houston mid-century architecture. Award: $25,000

Summer Discovery Program

The University of Houston Summer Discovery Program, a six week program that educates high school students about architecture at the Gerald Hines College of Architecture. Award: $7,500

Houston 175

Houston 175, a group organized to celebrate Houston's 175th birthday, to publish a book surveying 175 years of Houston Architecture. Award: $5,000

Progressive Forum

The Progressive Forum to bring William McDonough to Houston. Award: $5,000

Materials Research Collaborative

The University of Houston Materials Research Collaborative at the Gerald Hines School of Architecture, a resource for material discovery and research for students and the architecture community. Award: $2,500
