Merrill Elam

Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects | Atlanta, GA

Merrill Elam is a Principal in the firm of Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to her practice she lectures and teaches frequently. Upcoming in 2019 she will serve as a resident advisor at the American Academy in Rome.

In 2014, Merrill Elam was selected as the inaugural Design Leader in Architecture, Architectural Record. In 2016, Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects was selected with eleven other firms to represent the United States in the Venice Architecture Biennale in the exhibition entitled “The Architectural Imagination.”

With Mack Scogin, she received 2013 Shutze Medal from Georgia Institute of Technology, 2012 Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award in Architecture, a 2008 Honorary Fellowship in the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the 2006 Boston Society of Architects Harleston Parker Medal, and a 1996 Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design. The American Academy of Arts and Letters awarded Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects the Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize in 2011 and an Academy Award in 1995. The Atlanta Chapter of the American Institute of Architects awarded the firm the Sliver Metal for Consistent Pursuit and Achievement in Architectural Design in 1989 and the Silver Metal Award in 2012.

Current projects include the Des Moines Federal Courthouse, a ONEOK Boathouse and Williams Lodge at Gathering Place, Tulsa, Oklahoma for the George Kaiser Family Foundation; One Museum Place in Atlanta, Georgia for John Wieland; projects for Tishman Speyer including the Queens Plaza in Queens, New York, and Three Alliance Center in Atlanta Georgia. Recent work includes the United States Courthouse in Austin, Texas; and the Yale Health Center at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.



Anton Schneider

Johnston Marklee | Los Angeles, CA

Anton Schneider has been a designer with Johnston Marklee since 2002 and has been Director of Design since 2016. During these sixteen years, Anton’s professional training and development in design is concurrent with the evolution and realization of many award-winning Johnston Marklee projects. He is currently overseeing the phase one buildout of the new worldwide headquarters for Dropbox in San Francisco. Anton has been the Project Designer and Senior Designer on all scales of projects both institutional and residential, including the Poggio Golo Winery and Grand Traiano Art Complex in Italy, the View House in Argentina, and a new retail showroom for Knoll in Los Angeles. Most recently he completed the Energy House on the Menil Campus. 

Anton has worked and studied in several European countries, participating in design competitions and the professional discourse in each location. Anton marries his outstanding skill as a designer with a focus on integrating intelligent engineering systems through consistent collaboration to optimize expertise, together with design detailing organized around a consistent iterative process of feedback and refinement.
